Default Call to reject PPI levy

Greetings forum members.

I have been contacted by Nick Sellick, director of Estate Insurance Group, a brokerr based in London who is so incensed by the proposed levy fees that he wishes to bring together a collective of brokers who can stand with a united voice and say they won't pay on the grounds that the increases are patently unfair.

He is looking for like-minded brokers to join him in his stance against the fees.

He can be contacted at nicks@estateinsurancegroup.com

The IFA market have been through this (and much worse) for years.
Protest won't work against the FSA.

I understand the sentiment, but you will just get struck off. In the FSA's view their are enough Direct Writers about that the loss of a few (hundred0 brokers won't narrow the choice for consumers.

My suggestion of getting them to take action against Insurers is a real possibility. They forced Insurers to stump up £50m ex gratia in December last for ASU contracts that were unfair ("The safe harbour agreement")otherwise the FSA were going to take action against the Insurers.

Maybe we can get a template letter drawn up by BIBA so that we can all write in with one voice?

The FSA are wise to this and if the letter is the same will count as one and not a multiple.
BIBA already speak collectively for us.

Although it may be completely outrageous it is not worth getting struck off over. The best route is probably through BIBA, getting something together for them to put to the FSA is probably the best move (in terms of letters, petitions etc). Targeting the insurers is a good move as someone has to pay and they are hardly whiter that white on this issue.

Default Not a big bill

Call me apathetic, but despite receiving a bill around 3 times higher than last year, the FSA payment is still one of my smallest bills and equivalent to around 10 weeks worth of stamps.
