Default Spiralling Motor Claim costs and Fraud

Although we have now exit the recession the cost of motor claims continue to spiral out of control and motor premiums Increase.

My question is for all people involved in Motor, be it broking, underwriting or claims why not change the format of claim forms and how they are dealt with.

The MOJ now requires an Insurance Company to accept liability in 15 days.

Why not provide a camera to all motor policyholders, that must be kept in the vehicle. If an accident occurs photos could be taken of both the Third Partys damage and the policyholders vehicle. Also How often does a claim form ask, Number of Passengers in the Tps vehicle?.

I have not seen any?.

I look forward to receiving any replies/views.

Use of cameras long recommended as fleet risk management strategy. Not actually required to provide a camera as the majority of us have mobile phones that can be used !!!

As to "claim forms" - we deal with fleets rather than personal lines but actual paper claim forms are few and far between these days.

reporting the claim direct to the insurer is fine, but with so many companies outsourcing to the like of india etc, how much information is not taken accurately?.

regarding cameras, would it be a good marketing tool? Insurers name and number on it?

Brokers could do the same.

Disposable camera stuck in a glovebox for 3 years - film deteriorates in hot conditions and is useless and after the 3 years the risk is insured elsewhere.
Education as to use of mobile phones must be the best route.

I never said direct reporting to the Insurer is fine - I merely said that this is what happens !!
