There is a myth that if you have a Non fault Accident and you are not making a claim under your own policy then you do not need to notify your own motor Insurers, if you are using a "Non Fault Scheme".

This is not correct as even when you are not making a claim under your own policy, recoveries for the repairs to your vehicle will be made from the negligent party and as such, the claim will be recorded on the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE).

Just by reporting the claim you should not receive an increase in premium.

Also all claims have to be reported to the Insurer on any vehicle where you are a driver.

Your Wifes Car, your own Car etc.

And finally i would suggest if in doubt speak to your Insurance Broker or Advisor.

Last summer, Insurance 360 - the sister industry insight unit of Insurance Age, Post and Professional Broking - carried out its first annual Business Insurers Insight Study.

Britain's 40 most-used business insurers and managing general agents were rated by 630 commercial broking professionals for their handling of new business, underwriting capabilities, documentation, renewals, cover, claims handling and development support. The resulting overall service rankings were published in Post in October 2009 and are now available to download:
http://www.insurance-360.co.uk/report-downloads.html

In return for 20-25 minutes of input, participating brokers each received an exclusive, hard copy Respondents' Report - containing comparative performance profiles of all 40 featured insurers - entirely free of charge, enabling them to:
• Benchmark their existing insurer panel
• Identify the best markets for each risk
• Hold underperforming insurers to account
• Learn those worth using and those best avoided
• Keep ahead of industry developments
• Look after their clients better and retain more of them

The Respondents' Report is the most powerful, practical, user-friendly business tool available in the broker market Don't take our word for it: for bona fide broker feedback, just go to: http://www.insurance-360.co.uk/helping-brokers.html Sample 2009-10 insurer profiles (LV and Markel) are also available.

But that was last year's study. This summer's 2010-11 edition is now live - and this year, we're improving and expanding it to cover the market's leading 60 commercial insurers using input from 840 commercial broking professionals, from account executives to senior management. If you're interested in being one of those 840 and receiving the 2010-11 Respondent's Report, specifically tuned to brokers' practical competitive insight needs - please contact:

Quote from Swiftcover "The Axa-owned motor insurer is claiming that it is to become the first company in the UK to automatically check the claims histories of motor insurance applicants".

About time too.

What's the use of CUE etc if it isn't used, or worse only used at point of claim, (which in itself would probably be a breach of UGF by the Insurer, to seek to underwrite at point of claim rather than underwrite before the clients buys) No wonder insurers can't make money!

A rival insurance publication runs a headline to the effect that brokers are concerned that RSA's £5bn bid for parts of Aviva's general insurance business, including the UK, could ultimately limit client choice and competition.

Are they the Insurers that compete with brokers by offering cheaper internet based products direct ?? There are a variety of other markets out there with some like Chubb and Hiscox even offering decent service !!

Tough! They stole £300,000 of client money and forged documents and failed to put clients on cover (ORION DIRECT)
I think they got off very lightly.
Could the Government take on the responsibility and abolish Motor Insurance altogether?.
A one cap fits all, and the costs are covered through Petrol? That way everyone will have to pay?.

The FSA have just published PS10/12 on the handling of PPI complaints. They expect 550,000 complaints a year for the next five years!! Average cost of redress is put at £900 per case.

They estimate only 35 general insurance intermediaries will fail as a result of having to pay (or trying to dodge) this redress - but give no figure for how many real brokers will fail as a result of having their fees increased.

If you want to read it - 156 pages -you can do so here http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pubs/policy/ps10_12.pdf

It is profoundly depressing. PPI was a con-trick. A toxic product sold only to the vulnerable. Sold by the greedy to the needy. Don't ever let an Insurer lecture you on Utmost Good Faith!
